At present, beekeeping production has a market that is determined by the increase in the global demand for honey and other products derived from the hive, in Mexico bee production has developed as a relevant activity, due basically to represents an important source of employment in the marginalized areas of the country, as well as one of the main foreign exchange activities within the livestock subsector. But the socioeconomic and technical conditions faced by beekeepers have had considerable consequences, since they do not have sufficient economic benefits. This paper proposes a rural development model for the economic and social competitiveness of the beekeeping sector. An exploratory and descriptive analysis of a specific area of study was carried out. The result of this work is a theoretical model for the competitiveness of the beekeeping sector.
